OTTAWA --This summer, the RCMP arrested and questioned a Montreal-area man
who, according to the Montreal Gazette, is suspected of selling secrets to members of organized crime.
However, this was no ordinary bust.
The unidentified man, who has has not been charged, was also one of their colleagues -- a civilian employee who worked for the RCMP for more than 20 years translating wiretaps made in Italian.
The man's lawyer, Franco Schiro, told the Gazette an RCMP investigator informed him the force has "suspicions" about his client. "There is a big difference between being under investigation and being charged," he said.
The RCMP can only confirm that an employee had been arrested.
